Sorig Projects:

Tibetan Language
Under the State Education Department norms, the Tibetan language program is a very limited program. To date, the government offers limited compensation to Tibetan language teachers due to a shortage of funds. Because of this situation in the schools, Sorig has created a Tibetan language teaching program for students, which it supports directly through the volunteer teaching staff, paying a honorarium to maintain regular classes in the village schools.
The program presently consists of a 10 member associated teach staff, with about 200 students. A fully staffed residential school with a primary health care facility is the main goal of the Sorig Foundation.
Tibetan language is one of the rich cultural languages in Middle Asia, which has a history of 1500 years. Many studies have proven that the form of this language was dialectic of the people of entire Himalayan region of Indo Tibet. As such, Tibetan is the mother tongue of Himalayan people as well as some of Buddhist culture. There exist many legends about Tibetan races establishing relation even with the Indian lineage Devanagri Language. In its classical form for speaking & writing has been used in Tibet, China, Bhutan, Nepal, Mongolia, and entire central Asia.
To be precise, it represents the link language of the people living under the boundary of the Himalayas, determining their way of living. Acharya Thonmi Sambhota coined Tibetan language, and the script on the basis of Devanagri script. There are 35-40 Thousand material available in Tibetan in the field of religious philosophy, art, science, medicine, astrology, literature, languages, etc. The collection of Buddha's Preaching in 108 volumes called “Tripitakka” and the text “Kangyur & Tangyur” available in Tibetan only are perfect representations of the richness of this language. The availability of translations from Sanskrit to Tibetan only is more than 10 thousand. So it's very important to keep the popularity of this language among the Himalaya region.
